Week 79: Well Done, Thou Good and Faithful Servant!

I can't believe this is my last email home! I am so grateful for the experiences I've had while serving here in Georgia.  I will be forever changed because of the amazing people I've met.  I really believe that God put me exactly where I needed to be.  I have loved and learned from all of my companions, and I feel so close to those whom I have taught and worked with in each of the wards I have served in. Last night at a dinner appointment I shared Ether 12:4 which says:

" 4 Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with surety hope for a better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of God, which hope cometh of faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good works, being led to glorify God."

This has become one of my favorite verses.  When I came on my mission I had hope and faith in a lot of aspects of the gospel.  Now, as I have given myself to the Lord, and done all I could do to follow His will, it has been amazing to see how my faith has become an anchor for me.  I feel lucky to have had so many opportunities to share the message of hope to my brothers and sisters.  I am amazed time and time again at the miracles that Heavenly Father puts in our path.  I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored today and that we have a living prophet to lead and guide us. I know that although none of us are perfect, Christ's gospel is, and that He invites all to find the peace that it offers. I know that Heavenly Father's love is stronger than any fear or doubt.  I know that this gospel has brought me more joy than I could have ever imagined. I love being a missionary, and I am excited to continue to be a missionary throughout my life! I can't wait to see you on Friday! I love you!  Sister Hunter

Week 78: One of the Highlights of my Mission!

My heart is just so full of gratitude as I think about this past week! I am so grateful for all of the opportunities I've had throughout my mission to become so close with so many amazing people!  Sunday was one of the best days ever.  Saturday night a less active member and her son (Corbin) who we've been teaching, texted us out of the blue and told us they were coming to church!  As sacrament meeting got close to starting we could see them walk in, and I can't even describe the joy we felt!  It has been amazing to see her transformation.  When I first got here she wouldn't even let us in the door, and now she is coming to church - truly amazing! THEN, Mary AND the Foote’s walked in and I almost fell over I was so excited! It has been MONTHS since I've been able to see Mary.  I was just overwhelmed with excitement to see my very first investigator and then to see that support from my mission president and Sister Foote.  I honestly just felt so blessed at that moment.  During the meeting I was sitting next to my little buddy in the ward, little five-year-old Lillie.  Her older brother is a member and we’re teaching her older sister.  They come from a really rough past and she's the one who calls me, “Mom.”  Mary got up and bore her testimony, which was SO amazing.  She has grown so much these past 18 months.  I had to get up and bare my testimony then, and Lillie who doesn’t leave my side came up with me!  It was so special to look out and see so many people that I've come to love.  Wow, it was truly amazing! Like honestly, I think that might have been one of the peak moments of my life!  I am so grateful that my Father in Heaven loves me enough to allow me these opportunities to feel the Spirit so strongly.

Sorry it isn't too much of an update of the whole week, but I'll fill you in when I get back!

 So happy to see Mary!

Miss Crawford is the sweetest old lady who has had an extremely hard life, she just moved away this week and so we took some pictures before she left!

IT FINALLY RAINED HERE! We got caught in the storm :)

Week 77: Another Great Thanksgiving in Georgia!

It’s been a great week!  There were lots of changes in our district, and the two of us were so happy to be staying together!! A highlight was definitely Thanksgiving! We spent a lot of the day finding, and then we had a delicious Thanksgiving meal with Sister Martin and a part member family in the ward.  They have three little kids and the smallest one calls me "mom," and she is just the cutest!  She and I have a special little bond.  I’m running out of time - sorry for such a short email, but here are some pictures!!

We helped Sister Martin decorate her Christmas tree and had a blast!

The last picture of our awesome district!

 Just the sisters!

Week 76: Go Bulldogs!

Another great week here in the Griffin Ward!! On Monday we had such an amazing lesson with our investigator, Connie! Remember her? We found her what seems like a long time ago, and scheduling appointments with her has been tough, but we finally were able to teach her! We talked to her about the Plan of Salvation, and it was so amazing to see the joy that it brought her.  She had no idea about the pre- earth life or anything about what happens after we die.  Throughout the lesson she kept saying, "No one has ever told me this before!" It was one of those lessons where I kept thinking to myself, "Is this really happening?” There was such an amazing spirit there and she truly is so ready for the Gospel!

We taught Maple again this week, and we also talked to her about the Plan of Salvation! We taught that lesson a lot this week it seems.  She kept saying how much peace it brought to her heart.  She, too, had never heard about what happens before we come to this earth and after we leave. We also painted earlier in the week with Maple.  She is 35 years old and had never picked up a paintbrush! She said in China they have no art in their schools or anything. It was fun to see her experience that for the first time.  On Thursday we went out with a member and were able to see quite a few of our investigators! It is such a blessing when people don't cancel!  We also taught Skye that day and she is doing great!  Her date is now set for Dec. 3rd so that her sister can be there.  She is progressing really well and excited about the gospel.

We had a great lesson with Michelle and Steven, a couple we are teaching, and there house was literal chaos - people everywhere, TV on, dogs everywhere - but there seemed to be a bubble around where we were sitting because the spirit was so strong. It was such a cool experience.

President and Sister Foote came to our ward and spoke on Sunday and it was so great! The ward members love having them come, and I love those two so much.  Well, those are pretty much the highlights of the week! Oh yeah, the two of us are staying together for the next 4 weeks, and I get to stay here in the Griffin Ward until I go home.  I am relieved for sure!! I am looking forward to Thanksgiving this week! We are going to Sister Martin’s, which should be a lot of fun! Hope everyone at home is doing well! Love you!!

Week 75: "I Love to See the Temple"

Things continue to go well here in Griffin!  A highlight was going to the temple and seeing Sister Nau and Sister Thompson. They are both doing great, and it was so fun to reconnect with such amazing friends! I am so grateful to be surrounded by so many good people.  This week Skye has been progressing really well.  She has such an amazing glow about her.  We can really tell that she is doing all that she can to prepare for her upcoming baptism, and it is truly inspiring! Having her at church on Sunday was wonderful.  It was the primary program, so that was a treat for sure! We were able to teach Maple again this week as she got back from her trip on Tuesday.  We watched the Restoration DVD with her, and at the end of every lesson she always describes the peace she feels.  Sorry this email is a bit on the short side, but we really are seeing many miracles each day and meeting lots of wonderful people! Love you and have a great week!
