Week 68: Day by Day in Griffin!

Monday, after P-day, we went out teaching with a member who is close to our age.  I actually served with her when she was in the Singles Ward!  We had a lesson with a fairly new investigator, Randy, and it was really neat to see how much he took in while we were teaching.  I have a feeling it may be a longer process with him, but we have loved being able to teach him.

Tuesday we had a district meeting, which was great! We spent most of the day in Griffin, and the highlight was teaching a new investigator named Maple.  She is living with the bishop’s family and is teaching at the school here.  She is from China and will only be here until December.  She speaks pretty good English, and we are really going over the basics with her.  It is so cool to see her experiencing what the Spirit feels like.  We read 1 Nephi 1 with her and went verse by verse, and we weren't sure how much of it she got, but at the end of the lesson she gave a perfect summary and it was amazing! I guess it’s illegal for her to get baptized where she lives, but one day when the gospel is allowed there she will be prepared!

Wednesday we went on exchanges in Thomaston and that was fun! They have a really awesome Bible Study, and we’ve decided to start one in our ward next week! I am definitely going to need to brush up on my Bible knowledge.

Thursday was one of those days that we planned out so well, and then everything fell through!  BUT, we did have Bob, and he taught us the Plan of Salvation at a member’s home and it was awesome.  Bob also passed the sacrament on Sunday, and that was wonderful to see.

Friday we had “new missionary training” in Fayetteville.  I think it is probably my favorite meeting of all the meetings we have! I love being able to relive beginning a mission through the sisters I train.  Sister B is awesome, and I feel so lucky to have her as a companion!

Saturday we had the Bear Creek Festival all day! It was a ton of fun, and we were able to talk to lots of people! Parts of the day were pretty slow, but overall it worked out really well!  That night the elders had a baptism of a 10-year-old boy whose family just recently became active again.  Sister B and I spoke!  We had the Women’s Conference that night, and a lady who was visiting from another ward pulled us out to talk to us and then had a full on panic attack.  I guess she has a disorder that looks like she’s having a seizure, but she is still coherent... anyway kind of crazy.  We got the bishop to help us, and let’s just say that the experience confirmed that I never want to work in the medical field!

Sunday the coolest miracle happened!  One of the big churches here in town has a pastor who started reading the Book of Mormon a while back. He was trying to prove the Book of Mormon wrong to someone in his congregation who happened to be an inactive member of the church.  Over time he gained a testimony of the Book of Mormon, and his entire sermon yesterday was on the restoration and the Book of Mormon.  At the end he resigned as pastor because he said that he had the truth and if he kept doing what he was doing there would be blood on his hands. President and Sister Foote are going to teach him!  So his entire congregation of 800 plus the online campus heard him testify of the Restoration.....SO COOL!  They took the video offline, but it is the Crosspoint Church if you want to look it up!  The gospel is so true.  The Book of Mormon is so true. Miracles everywhere!  Love y’all and hope you have a great week!
